BOTULINUM TOXIN

Botulinum toxin is a therapeutic agent, which rejuvenates people's faces, increasing their self-esteem.

Botulinum toxin A, known as Botox, is a true revolution in aesthetic medicine. Used by doctors to reduce wrinkles and expression marks caused by excessive contraction of facial muscles.

Botulinum toxin A is a protein naturally produced by bacteria. Very small doses of this substance are injected just under the skin, into the muscles that are treated to reduce wrinkles. Botulinum toxin specifically blocks the nerve impulse, leading to the relaxation of these muscles responsible for the excessive contraction that causes wrinkles. Other nerve functions – such as skin sensitivity to touch – are not affected. Treatment consists of injections, for example, above and between the eyebrows. The intervention causes minimal discomfort and the patient can resume normal activities shortly after treatment.

These side effects usually occur during the first week after the injections, are transient and are mild to moderate in severity.

The risk of potentially dangerous side effects is very low, but may be increased in patients who have difficulty swallowing, have certain neuromuscular problems, have lung problems, or are taking medications that increase the effects of botulinum toxin. It is important that you inform your doctor if you suffer or have suffered from any disease and if you are taking any medications.
